Discover the benefits of online training. As an international school teacher, online learning can, if delivered well, offer a welcome chance to talk with teachers working in domestic and overseas contexts about a huge range of common educational issues. It also gives you the chance to put learning into practice alongside another school in another part of the world.

Leadership
A coaching way of leadership
What does contemporary international school leadership look like in 2022? The challenges of the last 24 months, while arguably ‘unprecedented’ (how often have we seen that word since early 2020?), showed us that the most effective leadership approaches continue to align with the skills and methods of effective coaching.
Pathways and possibilities
One of the biggest questions any school can ask itself is ‘what is our purpose’? Some schools will say they exist to ensure students get into university and focus on grades and exams, others look a little further along the timeline and view their role as preparing students for university and career. The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) in Malaysia believes the answer is much broader and longer-term, as Jeff Farrington, ISKL’s High School Principal, explains.
Leading leaders to leave
Much has been written about how a Head of School must fight to retain their most talented leaders who are eager to move on to headships themselves. Let me offer a contrarian view: let them go. In fact, wish them bon voyage with fanfare and your sincere blessing, knowing that the departure of these gifted individuals is good news to be celebrated. This has become a cornerstone of leadership development at Frankfurt International School (FIS).Â
Achieving evidence-informed leadership
While there is no shortage of data and evidence captured in schools, it is rarely used to guide school leadership in a meaningful way. But we can do more – we can use evidence to establish where we are heading and what we need to do to get there.
Data Mining in the Early Years
Fiona Carter, Director of Academics at Wellington College China and Matthew Savage, educational consultant and trainer Savage Education share some best practices on Early Years data.
